Distribution units equipment

As we promised, we continue to tell our readers about basic types of packing and modern packing technical equipment. Today we will speak about technology of so-called distribution units by the example of work of packing machine of Italian firm INTERDIBIPACK. Until recently there practically was no alternative to glass bottle for every sort of drinks (water, beer, etc.). Boxes were used for delivery of glass bottles, — wooden and metallic, later plastic ones. Thus a producer and trading organization always had a container problem: availability of boxes or place for their warehousing. In shops there were the special areas for storage of containers, and in some places one could see heaps of boxes at backyards. The problems also took place with other container for transporting of printing products, office supplies and housewares. Stormy development of retail business, and also appearance of new types of containers for liquids (PET-bottle, thin-walled tin jars and so on.) led to problem of their packing and delivery to user. It was required not only to provide the comfort of transporting and guarantee safety of commodity but also, possibly, minimize use of container. As a result, there appeared a principle new (for us) type of packing of commodities in polyethlene film by means of special packing machines of ESORASK system. The packed objects are complied with blocks (preferably of rectangular form) to get optimum weight turned out for their accelerated loading and unloading. The size of block will also depend on external dimensions of tunnel of packing machine. As a rule, from 12 to 16 PET-bottles (or 16 - 20 glass bottles) are packed in one block. Rolled tape PET-film 600 or 800 millimeters wide is used as consumable material. It is desirable to apply small cardboard pallets for more comfortable and fast work. An operator wraps block with film (block is made from packed objects). Then, using a leg electric pedal, he puts a heating element down on block. The element welds jointing and cuts film. A block is delivered to tunnel along rollers, warming-up of film to a partly fluid state takes place as it passes the tunnel. The film cools off as soon as it gets out of tunnel, pressing objects in block reliably and firmly. As a result objects become close fitting and fixed like this. It allows to transport any commodities formed in blocks without additional container. Thus, there is no more need in notorious boxes, pasteboard boxes and etc. And, that most remarkable thing is that a used container is not accumulated during realization of commodities, and that is why there aren"t problems with warehousing of containers. It will be well for a sales point to have a small container, in which a worked film will be warehoused. This very film is also used for production of new film, so, it is a closed cycle. The abovementioned method of packing has obvious advantages. A fabricator of commodity can decide question of packing, transportation and safety of goods by means of wrapping machine of abovementioned type and without exterior help. We used example with bottles for intelligible explanation. It is perfectly clear, that we can use block packaging for much more wide range of commodities (various food stuffs, certain types of building materials and many other things). And this method will be optimum for them.
